Short answer, no. We cannot provide accommodation for volunteers. Any volunteers who do not live near Edinburgh are still welcome to volunteer but they will need to commute or sort their own accommodation.

Are travel costs covered for volunteers? +

We have a travel subsidy policy to support volunteers travelling. Travel expenses of up to £10 for a return journey are permitted without prior authorisation being required. Travel expenses of over £10 will not be reimbursed. We encourage all volunteers to take the lowest cost transport option possible.

When will applications for the programme close? +

Applications close at midnight, Monday 21st September, 2026. Exceptions may be made after this date depending on volunteer experience. Please contact events@turingfest.com for more details.

What are the different volunteer roles? +

Registration / Welcome, Ushering, Media support, Speaker support, Sponsor support, and CEO Assistant.

What makes it a 'programme'? +

This programme consists of several different elements, including benefits for the volunteers and for Turing Fest. Our volunteers are focused on managing relationships, attendee expectations and resources. All volunteers receive general training and networking opportunities, as well as role specific training (as needed). All volunteers will also receive a personal reference for future use based on their attitude and performance during the programme. In exchange for their time and work, volunteers are invited to attend 1 day of the Turing Fest event at no charge.

Are there any restrictions to volunteering? +

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old, must be able to make their own way to Edinburgh, and must comply with our Code of Conduct.

Who do I contact with any further questions? +

Any questions should be directed to Lewis, the Volunteer Programme Manager at events@turingfest.com.
